How To Nourish The Mind, Body & Spirit (Heart) of A Child?

"Allah has made the whole universe nourishment not only for the body but for the mind and spirit as well so that we can worship Allah not only with our body but also with our mind and spirit. However many Muslims today can only see the physical or outer layer of information of the universe and they end up worshipping Allah only with their body. This is not true servitude ('uboodiyyah) to Allah and is going against the teachings (millah) of Ibraheem (AS) and the practice (sunnah) of our Prophet Muhammad (SAW)" - Shaykh Dr Mohammad Akram Nadwi

Proper nourishment is essential for the balanced development of a child. But today the whole world is mostly concerned (if at all) about just one type of development - the physical development of a child. Even this is sometimes compromised by the economic interests of nations, multinational corporations and the media. For example it is so common these days to see horrible junk food advertisements targeted at children. Moreover when it comes to intellectual (mind) and spiritual (heart) development no one has a clue about them. Even the educational establishments which traditionally were focusing on intellectual and spiritual development of human beings have totally lost their way and are now only concerned about the physical development by helping people acquire skills, certificates and degrees so that they could earn a livelihood. So it is no wonder that despite the advancements in science and technology the well-being of the human is at its lowest with soaring suicide rates, dysfunctional families, mental health problems, greed and youth unrest.

If this is the state of the world then who is going to properly nourish the mind, body and spirit of the children? And more importantly how would that be done? Only if we find answers to these questions and apply them we can expect to raise righteous, balanced and bright children in the 21st century.

To explore these questions and more, register today for the groundbreaking seminar Raising A Muslim Child in The 21st Century - Preparing The Leaders of Tomorrow by Shaykh Dr Mohammad Akram Nadwi to be held in London. Shaykh Dr Mohammad Akram Nadwi takes a very unique multi-faceted approach to this subject. So register now without delay to secure your place and benefit from this invaluable seminar.

The Best Days of Your Life - This Weekend In The Company of The Prophet (SAW)

The phrase above is neither an exaggeration nor a marketing gimmick. It is how people who attended the London seminar with Shaykh Dr Mohammad Akram Nadwi on the Forty Hadith of Imam an-Nawawi genuinely felt (as you can see from the testimonials below). It is not surprising nor mysterious that people felt this way as reading and studying the sayings of the Prophet (SAW) ought to evoke feelings of the presence of the Prophet (SAW) and the presence of the Hereafter.

"In a famous hadith –the Companion Hanzalah says to God’s Messenger words to the effect: “When I am in your company, the hereafter is vivid to me as if I were seeing it. But then I return to my wife and children, and it fades away.” The Prophet does not criticise Hanzala for this weakness of attention. Rather, he says, this loss of intensity is normal. He says “There is a time for this, and there is a time for this”. This hadith is a reminder of another important dimension and major benefit of hadith study: reading and reflecting upon the hadith, alone or in small groups, helps us to imagine being in the company of the Prophet, of hearing his speech, of being in the presence of someone who has full certainty of God and the hereafter.

Partly for the reason that Hanzala gives – other preoccupations, distractions -- most people are not able to read hadith all the time. Most of us are not scholars of hadith. But our need for hadith is not the less for that. To make it easier for people to benefit from hadith, a convention became established among Muslim scholars of compiling short selections from the hadith. There are many kinds of such selections; one of the most popular kinds is the Forty Hadith, of which the most famous among Muslims is Imam Nawawi’s Forty Hadith." - Shaykh Dr Mohammad Akram Nadwi (Introduction to 40 Hadith)

It is a blessing of Allah (SWT) that he makes these opportunities come again and again. Alhamdulillah we have the repeat of the Forty Hadith Seminar with Shaky Akram Nadwi this weekend up North in Manchester. Of course it is also available to join live online from anywhere in the world or if that is not possible to access the recordings.
If anyone really wants to experience the company of the Prophet (SAW) then there is no better opportunity than learning and reflecting upon the Forty Hadith with and expert of Hadith - Shaykh Dr Mohammad Akram Nadwi. You will also be linked to the Prophet (SAW) through an unbroken chain of narration via Imam An Nawawi.
It is happening this weekend InshaAllah, book your place now.
