The Cambridge Islamic Sciences Seminars has been running for a few months and it is rapidly gaining popularity by the Grace of Allah. We hope and pray that this would be of benefit to many more people in the future.
Muslim Education & Outreach Cambridge (MEOC) which organises these seminars is a non-profit organisation run entirely by volunteers without any paid staff. So all the money it generates goes 100% into educational and outreach projects.
We have set fees for these seminars to cover the costs which runs into thousands of pounds for each seminar. Furthermore whatever money you spend on these seminars will be considered money spent in the path of Allah and you will be rewarded for it. So more you spend the better it would be. In addition to this, the benefit you will gain from these seminars in terms of knowledge and understanding is priceless. Therefore the modest fee we charge is of immense value for money both in this world and the next.
However we do recognise that some people have difficulty affording the course fee for different reasons. Therefore we are trying to break these barriers as much as we could to make the seminars accessible to a wider audience. We have two schemes in place now for this purpose.
1. Group Discount - G5D
A group of 5 people can register and pay a group fee of £90. This works out to be £18 per person which is significantly less that the "door fee" of £30 or the "online fee" of £25. As the fee is significantly reduced the booking and the payment should be made in advance and there will be no cancellations or transfers possible. We hope that this would be of interest to student groups and larger families.
2. Scholarships
For those who really cannot afford the course fee we may be able subsidise the fees through sponsorship/scholarship for a very limited number of attendees. If you would like to be considered for a scholarship please write to courses@meoc.org.uk stating the reasons and we will assess each application with the strictest confidence. The scholarships are not guaranteed as we can afford them only as long as scholarship funds are available. However it is worth appying for if there is a real need.
For those who wish to sponsor scholarships to financially assist those in need you can do so at the following link. It will be considered spending for sacred knowledge in the path of Allah.
